visual identity

print

I worked together with Zeppa on the visual identity for an open-air exhibition about Amsterdam Noord history. The logo is inspired by the layered nature of a city, referencing archaeology, urban development, and the stratified ground beneath us. The design evokes elements of the landscape and is inspired by Noord's industrial past, the history of the IJ river, and the area's green spaces. Together with the colour palette, they reflects Noord's distinctive raw character.

I collaborated with the artist-researcher Élise Alloin to design a prototype booklet to accompany an art path, one of Élise's projects around the closure of the Fessenheim (FR) power station. This bilingual french/german guide has four reading directions ― and therefore four different ways of being manipulated ― made possible by the triangular folding system. Fully unfolded, the book takes the form of a leporello, with the text on the front and the map on the back.

Master thesis on the reappropriation of scientific imagery

Research

Book design

In May 2022 was published the first image of the black hole at the center the Milky Way, Sagittarius A. This image followed the one of the black hole M87, published in 2019, which had then been widely commented and appropriated on social media. After so many spectacular representations of black holes, by scientific illustrations or cinema, the public was probably not expecting such a simple and hermetic image. It is the contrast between the social imaginary of black holes and the simplicity of the image, that was the motivation for these many appropriations.
