Artefacts

Artefact is a research on the production of astronomy images distributed to the public. By modifying astrophotography images, I make visible the artefacts contained in the image, which have been masked prior to their publication.

In astrophotography, an artefact is a detail in the image that does not exist in the sky.

These cyanotypes are a continuation of my research around scientific images and their role in popular culture and social imagination. I'm exploring the construction of astrophotographies and more specifficaly artefacts, as it interlap between scientific process and graphic art.
