Master thesis on the reappropriation of scientic imagery

In May 2022 was published the first image of the black hole at the center the Milky Way, Sagittarius A. This image followed the one of the black hole M87, published in 2019, which had then been widely commented and appropriated on social media.
After so many spectacular representations of black holes, by scientific illustrations or cinema, the public was probably not expecting such a simple and hermetic image. It is the contrast between the social imaginary of black holes and the simplicity of the image, that was the motivation for these many appropriations.
